01 / Back Pain

Back pain relief in Lakeway.

Lower back pain is the most common reason patients walk into 620 Chiropractic. It's also one of the most over-treated and misdiagnosed conditions in healthcare. Most chiropractors will adjust your whole lumbar spine, hope for the best, and have you back next week.

Gonstead is different. Through the five-pillar exam — including full-spine X-rays — we identify the specific lumbar segment that's the actual source of your pain. We adjust that one. We don't manhandle the rest of your spine.

What we typically see: mechanical lower back pain, disc-related pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, postural and occupational back pain, and pain that's lingered from old injuries.

How long it usually takes: acute cases resolve in 3–6 visits. Chronic cases see real change inside 8–12. We will tell you within the first two visits whether we expect to help — if we don't, we'll refer you.

02 / Sciatica

Sciatica relief without surgery or injections.

Sciatica — that sharp, shooting pain down the leg from the lower back — is one of the conditions Gonstead chiropractic was almost designed for. The sciatic nerve originates in the lower lumbar and upper sacral spine. When a vertebra in that region is misaligned and pressing on the nerve root, the pain travels.

Most sciatica we see at 620 has a clear mechanical origin. The Gonstead diagnostic process pinpoints which lumbar or sacral segment is involved. Adjusted correctly, the irritation reduces and the nerve calms down.

What we typically see: classic L5/S1 sciatica with leg pain to the calf or foot, piriformis-driven sciatic symptoms, post-pregnancy sciatica, and disc-related sciatica.

Realistic timeline: many patients feel meaningful relief in 1–3 visits. Full resolution typically 6–10 visits. If your sciatica has a surgical cause that chiropractic can't help, we'll catch it on imaging and refer you out.

03 / Neck Pain & Headaches

Tension headaches and neck pain, handled at the source.

Most tension headaches and many migraines have a cervical spine component. The upper neck — particularly the C1 and C2 vertebrae — sits in a position where misalignment can refer pain into the head, behind the eyes, into the temples, or down to the shoulders.

Gonstead upper cervical work is precise, gentle, and specific. We don't twist your neck and crank it. We identify the segment and apply a small, exact force in a specific direction.

What we typically see: chronic tension headaches, cervicogenic headaches (originating from the neck), some migraine patterns, post-injury neck pain, and "tech neck" from desk work.

Realistic timeline: for tension and cervicogenic headaches, most patients see frequency drop substantially within 2–4 weeks. Migraine response is more variable. We'll know by visit 3–4 whether we're getting traction.

04 / Sports Injury Care

Adjustments that hold under load.

Dr. Pittman is a lifelong martial artist and has worked with elite athletes in Dubai, San Diego, Seattle, and Los Angeles. Athletes need adjustments that don't fall apart the next time they squat, sprint, or roll on the mat. That's where the Gonstead precision pays off most clearly.

For athletes, we don't just adjust — we identify the mechanical pattern that led to the injury in the first place. If you keep tweaking the same lower back every time you deadlift, the question isn't "can we crack it" but "what's actually pulling it out of alignment, and how do we stop it."

Who we work with: BJJ practitioners, lifters, runners, golfers, tennis players, CrossFit athletes, cyclists, high school and college athletes, and weekend warriors of every flavor.

What we typically address: low back issues from squatting and deadlifting, neck stiffness from grappling, sacroiliac dysfunction from running, thoracic restrictions limiting rotation for golf and tennis, and rib subluxations from training and impact.

05 / Auto Accident & Whiplash

After a car accident, time matters.

The first 72 hours after an auto accident are critical. Soft tissue injuries that don't get properly assessed and treated early often turn into chronic pain six months later. If you were rear-ended last week and "feel mostly okay," that's exactly when we want to see you.

We do thorough auto accident workups: complete history, full-spine examination, X-rays as needed, and detailed documentation. We coordinate with your attorney and insurance company on the paperwork side so you can focus on healing.

What we typically see: whiplash and cervical sprain/strain, lumbar injuries from impact, mid-back rib injuries, post-concussive cervical symptoms, and delayed-onset stiffness that shows up a week or two after the accident.

Insurance & documentation: we handle MedPay, PIP, and liability cases. We provide detailed treatment narratives and reports for attorneys. We've done this for years.

06 / Scoliosis Care

Scoliosis: managed with precision imaging.

Scoliosis isn't something Gonstead chiropractic "cures." Anyone who tells you that should be approached carefully. What Gonstead does well is help manage the condition — reducing pain, improving function, slowing or stabilizing progression in younger patients, and maintaining mobility in adults.

The full-spine X-ray approach in Gonstead is particularly valuable for scoliosis patients. We can measure your curve angles precisely (Cobb angle and others), watch them over time, and coordinate care with your medical doctor or orthopedist.

Who we work with: adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (in coordination with the patient's pediatrician/orthopedist), adult scoliosis with pain, and post-bracing or post-surgical scoliosis patients who need ongoing maintenance care.

Honest expectations: we'll measure your curve at intake and again periodically. If we're holding it stable, that's a win. If we're improving it, that's a bigger win. If it's progressing despite care, we'll send you back to your medical team.
